Phosphor

« Back to Glossary Index

A non-renewable macronutrient that plays an important role in root growth, inflorescence and seed and fruit formation. It also favors the formation of leguminous nodules. The absence or deficiency of phosphorus results in stunted plants, with late maturation of fruits and dark, purplish leaves. The most commonly used natural sources of phosphorus are natural phosphates, bone meal and thermophosphates.
