Stem. Vegetative body of lower plants, filamentous or laminar, consisting of poorly differentiated cells. Sometimes, it presents a very complex aspect, as if it were a superior plant, but it is only appearance: there is neither stem, nor root, nor legitimate leaves. Algae, fungi and lichens have thallus.
