Anthracnose

General designation of diseases of higher plants caused by various fungi of the order melanconiales. Anthracnose generates dark, depressed and often haloed spots on the leaves, which end up in ulcers. It attacks, with great frequency, important cultivated plants, causing considerable damage. Synonym: Smallpox.
