Caryopsis

It is a type of fruit with a seed attached to the pericarp along its entire length. It is typical of grasses. It can be naked or clothed. Bare caryopsis: fruits that have only the germ, endosperm and seed membrane. E.g. corn. Dressed caryopsis: fruits that have fusion of glumes that form the shell. E.g. Rice.
