Fungus

« Back to Glossary Index

Any organism belonging to the kingdom Fungi, devoid of chlorophyll, leaves, true stem or roots and reproduce by spores and that can exist as a single cell, or form a multicellular body called mycelium, consisting of filaments called hyphae. Fungi are generally found in moist terrestrial conditions and, due to the absence of chlorophyll, are either parasitic or saprophytic relative to other organisms.
