Micropropagation

« Back to Glossary Index

Cloning technique also known as in vitro micropropagation, used for reproduction of living beings in laboratories, especially plants. This technique makes it possible to reproduce a large number of seedlings in small spaces. It uses as a culture medium compounds rich in micro and macronutrients and, in some cases, synthetic or natural hormones to stimulate the formation of roots and plant growth. The seedlings obtained by this process are generally free of contamination sources of pests and diseases because they are subjected to strict phytosanitary controls.
