Macronutrient that makes up the structural element of proteins and many other vital compounds for plants such as chlorophyll. Nitrogen favors the rapid growth of plants and contributes to flowering and fruiting. It is the nutrient absorbed in greater quantity by plants and the main element that makes up protein. It forms amino acids, and these when linked form proteins. The absence or deficiency of nitrogen results in weak plants with yellowing and wilting leaves.
