Peduncle

It is the structure, originated from the modification of the stem, responsible for sustaining and conducting the sap to the flowers. It connects to the stem or rachis of the inflorescence at the base and to the calyx at the apex. The cashew is an example of a flower stalk that develops into a pseudofruit.
