Raquel Patro

Raquel Patro is the founder and editor-in-chief of Shrubz.us, located in Curitiba, PR, Brazil. As a publisher, she develops specialized content in gardening and landscaping, particularly known for her detailed technical sheets on various species of ornamental and useful plants. As an experienced content creator, Raquel writes not only articles for the website but also develops e-books and courses aimed at disseminating knowledge about gardening and landscaping to everyone who loves plants, whether amateurs or professionals in the field, such as biologists, agronomists, landscape designers, and gardeners.

She assists readers and clients in delving into the world of plants, addressing everything from their vast variety and expanding their repertoire, to practical cultivation tips and the peculiarities of each species. Raquel is a perpetual student of botany, agronomy, and landscaping, committed to bringing the latest scientific and market developments to Jardineiro.net. This includes new techniques and current cultivars, but always focusing on the species of each plant and the appreciation of natural beauty.

Raquel believes that all people interested in plants and gardens should have access to quality content that is easy to understand. She strives to avoid technical and scientific jargon, without sacrificing the quality and truthfulness of the content.

Her experience goes beyond content creation. She believes that only those who practice can write authoritatively about a subject. In this sense, she has worked directly with landscaping, gardening consultancy, lectures at industry events, marketing for landscaping companies, and launching courses in partnership with other experts. Her portfolio includes the development and launch of courses on Vertical Gardens, with João Paulo Roberto, Garden Centers, with Augusto Aki, and Medicinal Plants, with Marilua Feitoza.

With a degree in Veterinary Medicine from UFRGS, Raquel has been researching, practicing, and writing about plants and gardens since 2006. She participated in free training in bromeliad and orchid cultivation at the Porto Alegre Botanical Garden and deepened her knowledge in landscaping at the Solar do Rosário Landscaping Course in Curitiba, Paraná, and at the Postgraduate Course in Landscaping at UNESP in Registro, São Paulo.

Raquel developed the first version of Jardineiro.net (Portuguese version of Shrubz.us) in 2006 and, since then, has been dedicated to improving the content and usability of the site. In addition to content development, she seeks to specialize in marketing, management, and technologies to build a more useful, fast, and user-friendly site, studying SEO, WordPress, Web Design, and User Experience.

In her leisure time, Raquel enjoys walking in the parks of Curitiba, going to the cinema to watch science fiction movies, or having an espresso with friends. She is passionate about ballroom dancing, books, gastronomy, and travel.
