It is a sedimentary rock that contains minerals with amounts above 30% of calcium carbonate (calcitic limestone). When the predominant mineral is dolomite, the limestone rock is called dolomitic limestone. Limestone is used to correct the pH of acidic soils. It is also a source of calcium and magnesium for plants.
